Khalistan movement was suppressed in India but remained on foreign soil
Khalistan movement was suppressed in india after Operation Blue Star in 1984. However, this movement remained alive
among the Sikhs living in canada, Britain, America and Australia. The same movement has once again started gaining
momentum in Canada.
Now Khalistani supporters are leaving india and living abroad
According to NIA, many big gangsters who were earlier operating gangs in india have fled abroad in the last few years
and are now carrying out their terrorist activities from there. These gangster-turned-terrorist criminals are engaged in
conspiring and committing serious crimes including murders by making contracts with criminals lodged in different jails
of India.
Demand for Khalistan on world map
At present, Sikhs living in many countries like Britain, America and canada keep raising the demand for Khalistan from
time to time. However, many organizations of Sikhs living abroad who have been continuously raising this issue do not
have much support in Punjab. One such group is Sikh for Justice. This is a US based group. Which was banned on 10 July
2019 by the government of india under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), stating that the organization
had a separatist agenda. Just one year after this, i.e. in the year 2020, the indian government declared 9 people
associated with Khalistani groups from different countries as terrorists and closed about 40 such websites which are pro-
Khalistan.
