Renowned agricultural scientist MS swaminathan is no more in this world, he died on thursday at the age of 98.

Swaminathan, who made an important contribution in the country’s Green Revolution, has three daughters in his

family. One of his daughters, Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, is a former chief scientist of the World Health

Organization. A staunch advocate of food and nutrition security, Swaminathan’s pioneering work averted the

threat of famine during the 1960s. Swaminathan, a lifelong warrior against hunger, was undergoing treatment for

age-related diseases for some time. On his death, President draupadi murmu and prime minister Narendra Modi

praised swaminathan for his service to the nation.

President Murmu said that swaminathan has left behind a rich legacy that will guide the world towards a secure

and hunger-free future for humanity. prime minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the demise of

Swaminathan and said that his unprecedented contribution in the agriculture sector changed the lives of millions

of people and ensured food security for the nation.

MS Swaminathan. At a very critical period in our country's history, his unprecedented contribution to agriculture

changed the lives of millions of people and ensured food security for our nation. PM Modi said that apart from

his revolutionary contribution to agriculture, swaminathan was also a powerhouse of innovation and an astute

mentor to many. He said that his unwavering commitment to research and his role as an advocate for the people

left an indelible impression on countless scientists and inventors. He said, “I will always cherish my

conversation with Dr. Swaminathan. His passion to see india progress was exemplary. His life and work will

inspire future generations. Condolences to his family and fans.
