67 cases of theft reported during Ganesh immersion in Telangana Hyderabad
67 incidents of pickpocketing, chain stealing, and cell phone theft were recorded on thursday at the Hussainsagar Ganesh immersion celebrations, despite a sizable police presence. The largest theft involved 20 grams of gold, two cell phones, and Rs. 1,500 in cash. The victim, 63-year-old Fathenagar resident Rama Tarakam, said that he and his buddies were preoccupied with the immersion ritual when the robbery took place. One more follower said, "I lost my phone with all my contacts and memories."
Despite a telangana high court prohibition, thousands of plaster of paris idols were submerged in Hussainsagar and other lakes. The petitioner Mamidi venu Madhav, whose argument the court had accepted, was unavailable for comment on Thursday. If he notices any instances of the order being broken, he is free to approach the court.

However, neither the civic organisation nor the government followed the directives.
