NTPC Telangana First Unit started commercial production
The unit's dedication is being organized by NTPC officials. On march 24, the TSTPP's first unit (2 x 800 MWs) was synchronized with the grid. Although the unit was ready for full production, technical issues prevented it from meeting the goal. On July 18, the unit was restarted, and by progressively increasing production, the goal was met. On the evening of July 23, it produced 801.6 MW at its maximum capacity. The first week of this month saw the successful completion of the 72-hour testing.
The 5800 MW (4,000 MW) supercritical thermal power plant was built in accordance with the andhra pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, and is required to provide telangana with 85% of the energy it produces. The telangana Government has formally requested that 100% of the electricity generated there be allocated to fulfill the State's rising energy demand, although no decision has yet been made on this.
