After prime minister Narendra Modi’s YouTube subscription videos went viral on social media, the biggest

question being asked is why has the PM become active on YouTube? Let us try to understand this with the help

YouTube is the biggest OTT player

OTT means over-the-top media services, that is, a media service that makes all types of movies, series and shows

available to you on your phone with the help of some other platforms. YouTube is also a part of this OTT.

According to data agency comScore, YouTube is the largest OTT player in India. According to the agency, about

464 million people watched YouTube in june 2023 alone. This month the reach of YouTube was about 91

percent. It's around mainstream media.

Other OTT platforms are far behind compared to YouTube. In june 2023, the views of Max Players are only 119

million and those of jio Cinema are 106 million. According to Statista, the number of YouTube users in india is

continuously increasing. There will be around 573 million users in the year 2023, which will increase to 826

million by 2028. YouTube had only 265 million users in india in 2019.

The number of YouTube users increased drastically during the Corona period. YouTube had only 337 million

users in 2020, which reached 424 million in 2021 and 424 million in 2022. This gap was around 90 million.
