Gold worth Rs 26.64 lakh seized at Telangana Hyderabad Airport
At rajiv gandhi International airport in hyderabad, customs authorities confiscated 454 grams of gold worth Rs 26.64 lakhs in two distinct incidents, an official said on Sunday. The gold was found on two travelers arriving from dubai, according to customs officers, in two separate incidents. They said that the gold was hidden in packages of detergent, wheat, and oats as a powder.
On their social media account X, hyderabad Customs posted the video and stated, "Based on pax profiling, hyderabad Customs, in two different cases, intercepted two pax coming from dubai on october 7, 2023, and found gold (in powder form) of a total weight of 454 grams valued at Rs 26.64 lakhs, mixed in detergent/flour/oats packets, and the gold was seized."
"In another instance, a passenger who had come from dubai on october 4 was stopped after using the green channel, and during physical examination, it was discovered that the passenger had hidden gold in the shape of paste and one kada weighing 736 gms with a value of Rs. 43,12,056 in his pants. The same item was found and seized, the official continued.
On october 5 from Sharjah, a flight was searched, and gold weighing 1220 gms valued at 71,41,880 was discovered hidden in the shape of paste behind a seat. "The said gold was seized," the officer declared. Accordingly, a total of 3.734 kgs of smuggled gold valued at Rs. 2.19 cr lakhs and foreign currency worth Rs. 16,46 lakhs were seized under the Customs Act, 1962, and further investigations in these matters are under progress.
