70 Bills on Various Subjects Passed by Telangana Assembly
The telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Passbooks Act 2020, which made it possible to transfer title deeds through the dharani portal, was one of the most important pieces of legislation. The telangana Abolition of the Posts of village Revenue Officers Bill 2020, which also resulted in the elimination of village revenue assistant jobs, was adopted by the state government in an effort to stop unlawful activities involving land registration difficulties or the transfer of title documents.
Although the two laws were meant to clean up a corrupt system, the government has rejected opposition parties' repeated complaints that the use of the dharani portal led to more corruption and made it easier for leaders of the ruling BRS to seize large tracts of land. Another significant piece of legislation was the TS Building Permission Approval & Self-certification System (TS-bPass) Bill, which allows for instant permissions for up to 500 square yards and approvals for building on plots up to 75 square yards without a building permit or occupancy certificate.
The governor did approve the Bill relating to the merger of TSRTC with the state government, but only after delaying her assent for a while and holding consultations. This was despite disagreements regarding the government's intentions when enacting new laws and the Governor's office disagreeing with several of these. One of the bills that still needs the Governor's final approval is one that would increase the number of co-opted members on the ghmc Council and another would establish private institutions.
