MNS leaders sitting on hunger strike to protest against toll increase
Taking aim at the ruling Eknath Shinde-led shiv sena and BJP, maharashtra navnirman sena (MNS) president
Raj thackeray has questioned the increase in toll charges in thane and Mumbai. Speaking to reporters in thane,
Raj thackeray asked, “I have a question for Eknath Shinde. He himself had filed a petition against the increase in
toll fees. But he has taken it back. Why did he withdraw the petition? Who forced him to take it back?”
maharashtra navnirman sena (MNS) chief Raj thackeray said on sunday that he will meet Chief Minister
Eknath Shinde to discuss the issue of toll increase. His party workers are protesting regarding this matter.
thackeray spoke to reporters in thane after meeting party leader avinash Jadhav, who is on hunger strike for the
last four days in protest against the toll hike. The increase in toll has come into effect from october 1.
This instruction was given to the ruling party
The MNS chief said he would meet the chief minister in the next few days and discuss the toll increase and other
issues related to the people of the state. He said that the previous Shiv Sena-BJP alliance had promised to make
Maharashtra toll-free in its election manifesto, but the promise was not fulfilled. thackeray claimed that Shinde
had filed a petition in the court regarding toll in the past and later withdrew it. The MNS chief asked on whose
instructions he had withdrawn the petition. thackeray said, 'The ruling party should keep in mind that elections
are near and they cannot anger the people.'
