Pathankot attack mastermind, Shahid Latif, killed by unidentified gunmen in Pak

Unidentified attackers shot and killed shahid Latif on wednesday in Sialkot, Pakistan. Latif was the architect of the Pathankot assault and one of India's most wanted terrorists. shahid Latif was a principal organiser of the banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and a major player in the Patahnkot assault, which took place on january 2, 2016. He had dispatched four JeM militants to Pathankot to carry out the assault after organising it from Sialkot.

Under the Prevention of Unlawful (Activities) Act (UAPA), he was apprehended in india in november 1994 on terror-related allegations. He was subsequently tried and imprisoned. In 2010, after serving his time in india, he was repatriated via wagah to Pakistan. In 1999, Latif was also charged with hijacking an indian Airlines aircraft.
Latif returned to the Jihadi workshop in pakistan following his release in 2010, according to an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
