Hearing on disqualification petitions of Shiv Sena factions...
Maharashtra assembly Speaker rahul Narvekar on wednesday said he will hold the next hearing on the
disqualification petitions filed by two rival factions of shiv sena against each other on october 12 instead of
october 13. Narvekar last month began hearing on disqualification petitions filed by two rival Sena factions led
by chief minister Eknath Shinde and his predecessor uddhav Thackeray. The first hearing was held on 14
September.
Why did rahul Narvekar take such a decision?
Speaking to reporters here, the assembly Speaker said, the (next) hearing on the disqualification petitions was
scheduled to be held on Friday. But since I have to attend the G20 Parliamentary Speakers Summit (P20) in Delhi
on that day, I have postponed the hearing. It will now be held on thursday instead of Friday. I could have fixed a
later date for the hearing, but I did not do so because I did not want to delay the hearing further. He said, “I want
to take a decision on this matter as soon as possible.” In July, the Speaker had issued notices to 40 MLAs of the
Shinde-led Sena and 14 MLAs of the thackeray group, seeking their response on the disqualification petitions
against them.
