Chhattisgarh Election: Code of conduct is implemented in Durg

Collector and district Magistrate of Durg district of Chhattisgarh, Pushpendra Kumar Meena, announced the

program for the assembly Elections-2023 and a limited period for ensuring fair and peaceful elections when the

Model Code of Conduct comes into effect and for the protection of public peace and safety of the common man.

For this, firearms licensees have been asked to be deposited in the Durg district data-border area, so that there is no

atmosphere of fear and terror during the election process and misuse of these weapons can be prevented.

DM's order to submit your weapons within 7 days


DM, under sub-clause (b) of section 17 sub-section (3), section 21 of the Arms Act 1959, ordered all the arms

licensees living within the Durg district data-border area to deposit the weapons with them in the nearest police station.

Deposit within days. Licensees can also deposit their weapons at the arms dealer of Durg Nagar, who has the

license to deposit arms. The person who will deposit the arms with the arms dealer will have to inform about it in

the concerned police station. The concerned arms dealer will prepare police station wise information and submit it

to the concerned police station and district Magistrate office.

These armed men will get exemption

This order will be applicable to all the licensees living in Durg district and also to the licensees coming from

outside the district. All licensees will be able to get their weapons back after the code of conduct ends. According

to the decision taken by the district Committee constituted for this, this order applies to security guards of all

recognized banks/security guards of financial institutions, persons holding constitutional posts, National Rifle

Association and district Rifle Association and industrial institutions, educational institutions of this district. And

the security guards deployed for the protection of important government institutions will remain free. Also, such

licensed persons, for whom it is necessary to have weapons for security purposes. After consideration of the

licensee's application by the committee, a decision regarding exempting him from this order or not can be taken.
