Hamas ready to release all hostages if Israel stops bombing Gaza
The armed group's demand to free civilian detainees came soon after an airstrike on tuesday in the Hamas-run enclave of Gaza City killed hundreds of people at a hospital. The Israeli military denied being behind the attack on a hospital in Gaza on tuesday, claiming that military information indicated the facility was struck by a botched rocket fire by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad armed organization stationed in the territory. "Following an analysis by the IDF's operational systems, a barrage of rockets was launched toward israel, which passed in the vicinity of the hospital, when it was hit," israel Defense Forces shared on X.
After Hamas fired a flurry of rockets at southern israel on october 7, the armed group ignited the current deadly conflict with Israeli forces. Known as "Operation Al Aqsa Flood Battle," Hamas conducted a terror strike against Israel.
Following the historic attack by the Hamas Group, israel launched "Operation iron Swords," a ground invasion of southern Israeli cities, in which it shot and killed civilians. Thousands of people have already died as a result of the two sides' brutal battle.
A few days after israel placed a complete embargo on Gaza, including the provision of necessities like gasoline, water, power, and medical supplies, Hamas authorities have demanded the release of all civilian captives. Blinken did, however, state that the US and israel were "in talks" to help provide medical assistance and life kits for Gaza residents following his meeting with prime minister Benjamin on Tuesday. Furthermore, israel decided to start supplying water to Gaza again on Monday.
