Former CM Channi’s reaction on Punjab Assembly special session...
The dispute continues between the bhagwant mann government and governor Banwarilal Purohit regarding the
special session of the punjab Assembly. chief minister bhagwant mann even announced going to the Supreme
Court against the Governor. Now reaction has come from congress on this. Former cm and congress leader
Charanjit Singh Channi has said that if the governor is saying that calling the assembly session is illegal, then
the punjab government should write a letter to resolve it. The punjab government itself is not following the
rules.
It is noteworthy that cm Mann had said on friday that his government will approach the supreme court against
the Governor's refusal to approve the three bills to be presented in the two-day session of the state assembly. A
few hours after the start of the proceedings of the first day of the session, the proceedings of the house were
adjourned indefinitely. governor Banwarilal Purohit had declared the session illegal and withheld his assent to
revenue related bills, which increased the dispute between him and cm Mann.
cm Mann called the governor Lat Saheb.
In the assembly, Mann attacked the governor and once called him Lat Saheb. Mann said that the governor is
behaving as if the state is under Governor's rule or he is like the Lieutenant governor of Delhi. Expressing
displeasure over the situation, Mann urged Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to adjourn the house sine die and
said his government will move the supreme court on october 30 against the governor on the issue. The
proposal to adjourn the proceedings of the house was presented by Parliamentary Affairs minister Balkar Singh
and passed to the Assembly.
