chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has given the first reaction on the murder of Bharatiya Janata
Party leader Birju Taram. cm posted on social media site X that he has requested the police to investigate.
cm wrote- The murder of tribal leader Birjhu Taram in Mohla-Manpur is unbearable. The grief of his family is
a common grief of all of us chhattisgarh people. May his soul rest in peace. If we put the mirror of politics in
front of violence, violence will win and the people of chhattisgarh will lose. We all have to fight together. Even
after Jheeram, we all have recovered and are still fighting. He said that I have spoken to the Principal Secretary
and the director General of police regarding the Mohla-Manpur incident and have requested for appropriate
action.

Earlier, district Superintendent of police Ratna Singh had told that Birjhu Taram was shot dead by unknown
assailants in Sarkheda village under Aundhi police station area of the district. The police officer said that the
incident happened around 7.30 pm when Birjhu Taram was outside his house. He told that immediately after
receiving information about this, a police team was sent to the spot. When asked about the possible role of
Naxalites in the incident, he had said that it is too early to reach any conclusion and investigation is going on on
all possible aspects. He told that according to eyewitnesses, 60-year-old Taram was out for a walk when two-
three people reached there and opened fire on him, due to which he died on the spot. Mohla-Manpur is one of
the twenty constituencies where voting will be held in the first phase on november 7.
