Ramdas says Teachers Recruitment should be based on merit.!
There should be no two examinations for the post of intermediate and graduate teachers; Their primary demand is that the candidates who passed the teacher qualification test should be directly recruited without conducting a competitive examination. The tamil Nadu government has no problem in fulfilling this demand. The tamil Nadu government can fulfill this demand by issuing a single ordinance. The implementation of this request will not incur any financial costs to the tamil Nadu government. But why is the tamil Nadu government reluctant to fulfill this demand? I don't know. Those who passed the qualifying examination conducted in the year 2012 were given the teaching post based on their rank. No competitive examination was conducted then. But, the then government imposed the competitive examination through the Ordinance No. 149 issued on 20 July 2018. The then opposition leader Stalin, who opposed it along with BMC, had hinted that if the DMK comes to power, they will cancel the competitive examination. This was also promised in DMK's election manifesto. However, this promise has not been fulfilled even after more than 30 months of the DMK government taking charge.
More than 60,000 people who passed the qualifying examination across tamil Nadu have not been given jobs for a maximum of 10 years. If they have to write a competitive exam and join the job, they have to spend lakhs of rupees to get the training. Thus the competitive nature of the exam makes teaching jobs available only to rich and urban students. Therefore, the government of tamil Nadu should cancel the Ordinance No. 149 which makes competitive examination mandatory for the post of intermediate and graduate teachers. Instead steps should be taken to recruit intermediate and graduate teachers based on merit test.” Thus it is said.
