Regional Passport Officer (RPO) and Head, MEA branch Secretariat, Dasari Ballaiah, announced on monday that a total of 5 Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and 14 Post office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSK) under the Regional Passport office, hyderabad, have accepted 4,000 applications and issued 2,800 passports per day from monday to Friday.

Since august 2023, these kendras have operated on Saturdays due to the growing demand for passports. He added that the backlog of passport applications has grown as a result of high input. Two enquiry desks have been set up at the RPO office, where 250 applicants are seen each day in order to assist those whose applications are pending but who must fly immediately.

"Of the 250, candidates can schedule 125 online appointments to visit information counters; the remaining 125 are walk-in tokens. Those who schedule appointments online, however, won't have to wait in queue and will receive priority attention. Therefore, Dasari Balaiah advised that any applicants who need to travel immediately but whose applications are still processing can schedule free online appointments at www.passportindia.gov.in to visit information counters.
