Clash among Councilors in Mettupalayam Municipality..!?
There was a commotion in the council meeting as chairs flew. Clash between AIADMK DMK councilors in the forum meeting held at Mettupalayam municipal office caused a commotion as a DMK councilor threw a chair at the AIADMK councillors.An emergency meeting of Mettupalayam Municipality of coimbatore District was held in the meeting hall under the chairmanship of Municipal President Mehreeba Parveen. AIADMK councilors in the Mettupalayam municipal area were involved in an argument, alleging that the garbage accumulated in the city area has not been disposed of properly for the past one month and that there has been a health problem.
The municipal commissioner and the engineer, who were supposed to answer this, were not present in the meeting, so the meeting should not be held. But as the DMK councilors said that the municipal president should hold the meeting, there was a heated argument between the councilors of both sides and later it turned into a conflict. There was a commotion when DMK 17 ward councilor ravikumar suddenly threw the seats where the councilors were sitting on the AIADMK women councilor and Vijialakshmi Akiyore in protest of the AIADMK councillors' speech. Later, there was a fierce conflict between the AIADMK councilors and the DMK councilors.
After this, the municipal chairman tried to reconcile both parties but the issue was not resolved and he left saying that the 11 resolutions put in the council meeting were passed as all pass. Enraged by this, nine AIADMK councilors sat in the council meeting and protested saying that the DMK councilors were behaving like thugs. AIADMK councilors have also lodged a complaint at the police station against two councilors named ravikumar and sriram who burnt the chair.
