Local media said that on tuesday morning, French police opened fire on a lady who was wearing a headscarf in a paris metro station. AFP news agency reported that passengers said the lady was shot after exhibiting threatening behaviour.

The lady reportedly yelled "Allah Hu Akbar" and "You are all going to die" as she threatened to blow up the tube.

The lady "refused to follow police orders" and threatened "to blow herself up," according to news agency AFP.

The paris prosecutor's office informed news agency AFP that she suffered a potentially fatal injury to her abdomen when a single shot was fired by a police officer. The woman had no other weapons or explosives on her.

The fire department responded quickly to give emergency medical help, and it was discovered that the woman suffered an abdominal gunshot wound. The Bibliotheque Nationale de france station was the scene of the incident.

A representative for the fire department verified that she was then taken to a neighbouring hospital by ambulance. It is said that the woman's health is serious.

Citing sources, the daily newspaper Le Parisien and broadcaster BFM tv stated that police were looking into the possibility of an Islamist "terrorist" motive in light of the woman's actions.

Authorities quickly evacuated the metro station in order to ensure public safety.
