Arguments were put forward that Rummy, a game of skill, cannot be considered a game of gambling. They also said that online rummy already has adequate anti-fraud safeguards in place. Justice Chanduru's team also complained that the report submitted to the tamil Nadu government was not made public. Subsequently, in the reply petition filed on behalf of the government of tamil Nadu;- This Act enacted as per the authority given by the Constitution of india is valid. The Act was enacted in relation to public peace, health and loss of life due to gambling. It said that the state government has full power to enact this law.
The judges heard both sides and ordered them to file written arguments. Later, the case was adjourned for an indefinite judgment after both sides filed written arguments. In this case, the judgment of this case has been released now. It has given a verdict that the Online Gambling Prohibition Act enacted by the tamil Nadu government will go. Moreover, the court also ordered that the sections which banned online games of skill such as rummy and poker be cancelled.
