Chhattisgarh Election: Surveillance is being maintained through CCTV

It is noteworthy that in view of the assembly elections, 2023, a virtual meeting of all the flying squad teams and

district officers of the Excise Department was taken by Special Secretary cum Excise Commissioner Mahadev

Kavre on 11th november and 14th November. In the meeting, the Commissioner of Income has given

instructions to all the officers to identify the areas related to illegal liquor manufacturing, collection, sale,

distribution and transportation in their respective charge areas and to carry out intensive raids to stop them.

Instructions have also been given to conduct intensive search operations in the data-border areas of the state, operate

excise check posts, conduct effective investigations and continuously monitor the situation through CCTV

cameras.

Intensive checking is being done in the data-border state

Keeping in mind the assembly elections, instructions have been given to the officers to check the vehicles

meticulously in all the check posts, especially in the data-border check posts adjoining Odisha, jharkhand and

Maharashtra, especially in Mahasamund, Bastar, Jashpur, Raigarh and undivided Rajnandgaon districts. He has

also given instructions to all the officers to conduct surprise checks in the warehouses of transporters and the

bags of delivery boys (Amazon, Zomato).

Checking is also being done in government liquor shops

The Excise Commissioner has said that in such liquor shops in the state, liquor has been sold more than 30

percent of the average sale during the last one month. They are being examined minutely and CCTV recordings

are being regularly checked. In the last three days, more than 150 liquor shops have been inspected by the excise


staff. In many cases, departmental staff as well as officers from other agencies have been involved in the

investigation.
