Whenever there is talk of Chhath, the great festival of folk faith, Sharda Sinha’s songs start playing in the mind.

Everyone knows Sharda Sinha, known as the Nightingale of Folk Songs, for her Chhath songs, but today meet

the person who wrote songs for her. ABP news talked to Sharda Sinha’s lyricist Hriday Narayan Jha. Hriday

Narayan Jha told how Sharda Sinha demands words in songs.

Hriday Narayan Jha is a resident of Madhubani district. He has been writing Chhath songs for Sharda Sinha for

the last 12 years. He has written many famous songs of Sharda Sinha. In a special conversation with ABP news,

Hriday Narayan Jha not only sang the songs of Sharda Sinha but also explained the meaning of each word and its

meaning.

No fuss...each word has meaning

Hriday Narayan Jha said that he has been associated with Sharda Sinha since 12 years. Sharda Sinha herself had

asked him to write songs for her, but her demands are quite different. Many singers sing other Bhojpuri or folk

songs of Chhath like Fuhar, but in Sharda Sinha's songs, each and every word has meaning. He told that the

songs of Sharda Sinha use the religious words which are there in our scriptures. Sharda Sinha sings it in simple

language. She also tells many of the words herself. Said that Sharda Sinha sings difficult words in easy language.

I understood his words and his language and wrote songs for him accordingly. All his songs written by me have

become huge hits.

Hriday Narayan Jha said that most of his songs are in Maithili, Magahi and Bhojpuri. In Maithili language,

words are selected thoughtfully. Hummed the lyrics of a song released two years ago, Sakal Jagatarni Hey

Chhathi Maiya..;. Said that his songs are sung the way people like, the way people believe.
