'Not feeling safe': Fresh ragging charge against Jadavpur University students

A postgraduate student at Jadavpur university, which was in the spotlight following the death of a fresher due to suspected ragging, filed harassment complaints against certain seniors in the boys' main dormitory on Wednesday. The allegations by the arts department student came a week after the university restricted access for six students accused of being engaged in the august event that resulted in the death of the fresher. The six were forbidden from entering campus for an undetermined period of time.
According to a senior faculty member, the philosophy department postgraduate student complained to the Dean of Arts in a mail that he was subjected to various types of mental torture and abuse after being tasked by the hostel mess committee with purchasing essentials from the local market over the data-size of fish and vegetables.
"I don't feel safe because some data-border guards are making physical gestures and casting cold stares at me." It is also impossible for me to continue my studies from abroad. Please remove me from the particular block where I am currently residing and relocate (me) to another hostel on campus," the student wrote. JU officiating Vice-chancellor Buddhadeb Sau told PTI, "I have heard it (about the mail by the student). Let the convenor of the anti-ragging committee examine the matter."
