Tipu Sultan's entry again in Karnataka...?


A karnataka MLA for the ruling congress made a suggestion to rename airports. The assembly voted in favor of this measure on Thursday, december 15. In this regard, the congress and bjp have reconnected in the state. PTI reports that the proposal names the airports in Hubballi after Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, Belagavi after Kittur rani Chennamma, Shivamogga after national poet Dr. KV Puttappa (Kuvempu), and Vijayapura after Sri Jagajyoti Basaveshwara. Required. Simultaneously, there was a proposal to christen Mandakalli airport in honor of Tipu sultan, a monarch of the 18th century. During the debate of renaming the airport, Hubli-Dharwad (East) assembly MLA prasad Abbayya stated, "I propose to rename Mysuru airport as Tipu sultan Airport." The dispute first arose in 2016

That being said, the karnataka dispute surrounding Tipu sultan is not new. It all began on november 10, 2016, when Siddaramaiah's congress government began honoring his birthday. Since then, in an attempt to divide voters, the bjp and right-wing groups have frequently cited Tipu sultan in both karnataka and the nearby state of Maharashtra. Earlier in june of this year, a social media post about the Mughal emperor aurangzeb and the ruler of mysore that went viral sparked violent protests from certain Hindu organizations.
