Reportedly minister SSR Ramachandran has said that relief will be given to the flood-affected crops soon. Revenue and Disaster Management minister KKSSR Ramachandran personally inspected and inspected the crops affected by rain and flood in Aruppukkottai, Virudhunagar district. The minister inquired about the effects of rain in the study meeting held after that. Around 15,000 hectares of crops including maize, rye and cotton have been cultivated in the surrounding areas of Aruppukkottai. About 7,000 hectares of these crops have been damaged due to heavy rains in the last few days. In this case, today the minister visited and inspected the crops damaged by rain and flood in Palawanantham area. After that, an inspection meeting was held in the presence of minister KKSSR Ramachandran under the leadership of district administration chairman Jayaseelan at Aruppukkottai district development office to express their grievances regarding crop damage.
Meanwhile in this meeting, the farmers told the minister about the crop damage in their area. A large number of farmers also submitted petitions. Speaking to the farmers, the minister assured that all the affected crops have been inspected and the damage to the crops has been calculated on the order of the chief minister and that appropriate relief will be provided to all.
When talking to the media, the minister said that half of the crops cultivated in Aruppukkottai Union have been damaged by rain and flood. The chief minister has directed to provide quick relief within a specified period. We are working on that. Crop insurance relief is different, rain flood relief is different. And it is because of encroachment of water bodies that there has been so much damage. He said that action will be taken to remove the encroachments soon.
