Will Sanjay Singh be able to file Rajya Sabha nomination from jail?

The membership of senior aam aadmi party leader and rajya sabha member sanjay singh in jail is expiring on 27th of this month. But as was being expected, AAP is again preparing to send sanjay singh to Rajya Sabha. Under this, sanjay singh will once again file his nomination for the rajya sabha elections. For this, he had applied in Rouse Avenue court, after hearing which the court has given him permission to file nomination from jail.


sanjay singh had filed two applications in the court. In the first application, sanjay singh had sought permission to sign the no-dues certificate issued by the rajya sabha Secretariat and in the second application, sanjay singh had sought permission to fill the nomination form and sign the documents. It is noteworthy that votes will be cast in the assembly on january 19 for the election of rajya sabha members in Delhi. The tenure of present rajya sabha members from delhi, Dr. Sushil Gupta, sanjay singh and ND Gupta, is ending on 27th January.

Knocked the door of high court for bail

Let us tell you that mp sanjay singh, arrested in the money laundering case related to the excise scam, has approached the delhi high court for bail. On december 22, Rouse Avenue court had refused to grant bail to Singh. In this, the lower court had commented that the court prima facie believes that the case against sanjay singh is genuine. Now Singh has challenged this decision of Rouse Avenue court in the High Court.

BJP took a jibe at the decision

BJP leaders have slammed the decision to send sanjay singh to rajya sabha again. delhi BJP spokesperson praveen Shankar Kapoor said that by nominating sanjay singh to rajya sabha again, aam aadmi party chief arvind kejriwal has shown that he is an equal partner in Sanjay Singh's corruption.
