Maldives government suspends ministers for mocking PM Modi..!?

In a statement by the maldives Department of Foreign Affairs, freedom of expression was urged to be used responsibly. It has also said that those who behave like this while holding government positions will be dismissed. Maldivian government has taken action by suspending the ministers who posted negative posts against indian prime minister Modi on social media. The move comes in the wake of controversial comments made by Maldivian ministers on prime minister Modi's visit to Lakshadweep. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the maldives today issued a statement in response to the concerns raised by the government of india over the posting of posts insulting prime minister Modi on social media. The report also confirmed that the ministers involved have been suspended.


However, the names of the suspended ministers were not disclosed. According to media reports in the country, the suspended ministers include Mariam Shiuna, Malsha and Hassan Jihan. prime minister Narendra Modi visited lakshadweep on january 4 and shared pictures on social media of him going snorkeling. After these pictures went viral, many people compared them to maldives and said that it is a better tourist destination than Maldives. In response to this, Maldivian political leaders criticized prime minister Modi.


An official statement by the government of maldives emphadata-sized the importance of exercising freedom of expression in a responsible manner. It also said that the spread of hatred, negativity and disputes should be avoided in relations with international allies.
