Reportedly bharatiya janata party has set a target of securing more than 400 seats for the lok sabha elections 2024. The bjp high command has sent this message to the workers and state units to work hard for more than 400 lok sabha seats. The party has also started making state-wise strategies for this. Uttar Pradesh, the most important state of the hindi belt, is also at the center of BJP's strategies. The party is trying to reach parliament this time by winning 70 MPs. bjp has not said this yet but indirectly it seems that the party wants to break the record of the then prime minister Rajiv gandhi when congress had got 404 lok sabha seats in the 1984 elections.

Meanwhile Uttar Pradesh had an important contribution in Congress's 404 seats in the 1984 lok sabha elections. If bjp wants to break Rajiv Gandhi's record in the 2024 lok sabha elections, then it will have to win a large number of seats from UP. In 1984, there were a total of 85 lok sabha seats in united Uttar Pradesh. However, after separation of uttarakhand in the year 2000, currently 80 seats are left in the state. In the year 1984, out of total 85 seats, 67 were general and 18 seats were reserved for SC. A total of 6 crore 23 lakh 35 thousand 43 citizens, including men and women, had voted in that election. That means a total of 55.81% voting took place. In this election, two seats were won by Lok Dal and 83 seats were won by Congress. Then congress had got 51.03 percent of the total votes.

At that time, congress got 49.10 percent votes across the country and won 82.28% seats. In the 1984 elections, congress had fielded candidates on 491 seats. At the same time, his security deposit was also confiscated on 0.41 percent seats. Talking about the 2014 lok sabha elections, the bharatiya janata party, which got absolute majority for the first time, got 71 out of 80 seats in UP. At that time BJP's vote percentage in the state was 42.63 percent. In the 2019 lok sabha elections, there was a decline in the UP graph of the bharatiya janata party and the party got only 62 seats. bjp got 49.56 percent votes in this election.
