World's largest statue of Ambedkar in Andhra Pradesh..!?
Chief minister Jagan mohan reddy will inaugurate the world's tallest statue of Ambedkar in Andhra Pradesh.
206 feet tall statue of Ambedkar:
Chief minister Jagan Mohan is going to inaugurate the 206-foot tall statue of Dr. Ambedkar, the creator of the Constitution of India, in Vijayawada. The statue located at Swaraj Maidan is named as Statue of Social Justice. The area where the idol is located is known as Smriti Vanam. In it, a 125-foot-tall statue of Ambedkar is installed on an 81-foot-high plinth. The project has been implemented in an area of 18.81 acres at a cost of Rs.404.35 crore. About 400 tons of stainless steel is said to have been used for this idol. This statue of Ambedkar in vijayawada is also considered to be the tallest statue of a secular leader in the country. Notably, the world's second-tallest statue of Ambedkar is located in the neighboring state of Telangana. It also features in the list of 50 tallest statues in the world.
Homegrown statue of Ambedkar:
Claiming to be the tallest statue of Ambedkar in the world, this statue is entirely indigenous. This means that 100 percent of the work from designing the statue to construction, sourcing raw materials, and finalizing the look has been done in India. Hyderabad-based contracting agency M/s KPC Projects Limited has done the construction work. Meanwhile, the design of the project has been done by M/s Design Associates, Noida. The state government has chosen the historic Swaraj Maidan to install the statue. It is in the heart of the city, accessible to all. Thus, the area where this statue is located is expected to develop into a major tourist destination.
The area where the statue is located has been completely greened and the area surrounding the plinth has six water bodies in front, a musical fountain in the center, and peripheral water bodies on 3 sides of the plinth. Facilities are created for morning and evening walks for the general public and the entire area is transformed into a beautiful green landscape.
