DMDK vs DMK : Kanimozhi met Premalatha Vijayakanth at his home. What was the reason?
Former chief minister Karunanidhi's wife Raja went directly to the home of DMDK chairman Vijayakanth after his illness and death last month.
Actor Vijayakantha started the DMK in 2005 as an alternative to the DMK-AIADMK which has been in power for the last 50 years in tamil Nadu. Following this, he won the assembly elections held in 2006 and entered the assembly as a single person.
In the next 5 years, he took the DMK to the masses and contested the 2011 assembly elections by forming an alliance with the AIADMK. As a result, Vijayakanth got the responsibility of the leader of the Opposition in the Legislative assembly leaving the DMK behind. Due to the conflict between the AIADMK and the AIADMK, one after another the DMDK executives left the party and joined the AIADMK.
Vijayakanth is ill
Following this, in 2016, the Democratic party, which had contested with the People's Welfare Alliance, lost its deposits in all the seats. In the next few months, Vijayakanth's health deteriorated and he was receiving treatment in the hospital. Premalatha was the only one to be featured in party events. In this situation, he was admitted to the hospital last month with difficulty breathing. He was diagnosed with pneumonia and died. After his demise, lakhs of volunteers from all over tamil Nadu came to chennai and paid tribute to his body.
Kanimozhi met Premalatha
Tamil Nadu chief minister Stalin, leader of Opposition Edappadi Palaniswami and all political party leaders paid tributes. Last respects were also given on behalf of tamil Nadu Government. In this situation, former chief minister Karunanidhi's wife Rajathi Ammal and DMK Member kanimozhi went to Vijayakanth's house in Virugambakkam. Then they paid respect to the portrait of Vijayakanth by sprinkling flowers. Following this, Premalatha consoled Vijayakanth.
