What happened that the Congress Chief argued with Union Minister?
There was a heated debate between Union Commerce and industry Minister piyush goyal and congress President mallikarjun Kharge in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament, on friday (February 2, 2024). Both the leaders were seen attacking each other over congress mp DK Suresh's statement demanding a separate country.
Referring to this statement in Rajya Sabha, piyush goyal said, “Congress and its leaders are busy dividing North India. This is the divisive thinking of Congress. As has been the behavior of the congress since the beginning, its method of working, this is an example of the work congress has done to divide the country.”
Mallikarjun Kharge gave this answer
In response to this statement of piyush goyal, congress President mallikarjun Kharge said in the house, “I heard that he said that I did not say that. If done then action should be taken. If anyone talks about breaking the country, we will not tolerate it. Be it any party, their party or our party. To keep this country united whether anyone says it or not. I myself, mallikarjun Kharge, will stand up and say that we are one from Kanyakumari to kashmir and will remain united. indira gandhi sacrificed her life for this unity. rajiv gandhi sacrificed his life. Will such a party ever demand a separate country? We will never tolerate this, but it is not right to repeat here what he did not say.”

If the ‘injustice’ being done to the southern states is not corrected, the southern states will be forced to demand a separate nation.”
