Owaisi supports Supreme Court's decision on Gyanvapi Mosque.!
The supreme court is currently hearing a fresh petition filed by the Gyanvapi Masjid Arrangement Committee, challenging the allahabad High Court's decision affirming the permission granted by a subordinate court for the Hindu community to worship in the southern basement of the mosque. The bench, headed by Chief Justice of india (CJI) DY Chandrachud, has also directed priest Shailendra Kumar Pathak Vyas to submit his response to the Masjid Committee's petition by april 30.
Justices J.B. Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra, part of the apex court bench, are also reviewing the petition filed by the Masjid Arrangement Committee, which oversees the management of the Gyanvapi Masjid. Previously, on february 26, the high court dismissed the committee's application challenging the district Court's decision to allow the Hindu community to perform worship in the basement on january 31.
The allahabad high court, while rejecting the petition of the Masjid Arrangement Committee, stated that the Uttar Pradesh government had decided to discontinue the puja in 'Vyas ji's basement' in 1993. The court deemed the decision to prohibit worship in the southern basement of Gyanvapi as 'illegal'.
