What is the court ruling on postal ballot rules?

The ap high court will deliver a key verdict on the validity of the postal ballot on saturday evening. The high court, which heard the urgent suit filed by YSRCP leader Lella appireddy regarding voter declaration, will deliver its verdict today.

 Arguments in the High Court

The counsel for the election commission (CEC) told the high court that it does not matter if there is no name, designation or seal of the attesting officer on the Form-13A related to the voter's declaration while counting the votes of the postal Ballot. The ec suggested that postal ballots bearing the official's signature should be considered. After the arguments on behalf of the petitioner are completed during the trial, the judgment will be pronounced on saturday evening.

 Lella Appireddy's arguments

Supreme court senior advocate Abhishekmanu Singhvi heard arguments on behalf of Vaikapa leader Lella Appireddy. He said that the orders given by the ec on May 30 are against the law... ec has no authority to change the rules. He said that looking at the ec order, invalid votes should be considered. The petitioner's lawyer argued that it is illegal to issue this kind of circular in ap as nowhere else in the country. As the ec is acting against the rules...courts have been asked to intervene. These orders are sought to be suspended and struck down.
