How many crores did the Himachal become indebted? 


The debt burden on himachal pradesh is increasing continuously. The matter is making headlines at the national level. There is a fierce attack and counter-attack between the ruling and the opposition on the issue of debt. The bjp, sitting in the opposition, is targeting the Sukhu government of congress on the pretext of debt. chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu is busy blaming the previous bjp government for the economic plight of the state. The official figure of debt has come out during the monsoon session in the himachal pradesh Legislative Assembly. The government replied to the house in response to an unstarred question.


The Sukhu government has taken a loan of Rs 2,810 crore against GPF from january 1, 2023 to July 31, 2024. chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu gave the information in a written reply to the unstarred question asked by opposition member Sudhir Sharma. He told that the Himachal government has taken a total loan of Rs 21 thousand 366 crore from december 15, 2022 to July 31, 2024. During this period, the government has also repaid a loan of Rs 5 thousand 864 crore. The house was told that the total net loan figure is Rs 15 thousand 502 crore. A total loan of Rs 21 thousand 366 crore was taken during this period.


What do the government figures say on the loan?

In the last quarter of the financial year 2022-2023 i.e. from 15 december 2022 to 31 march 2023, the Sukhu government took a loan of 6 thousand 897 crore. During this period, loans of Rs 1 thousand 097 crore were also repaid. In the financial year 2023-24, from april 1, 2023 to march 31, 2024, the government took a total loan of Rs 10 thousand 521 crore. During this period, a loan of Rs 3,481 crore was also repaid. In the financial year 2024-25, from 1st april 2024 to 31st July 2024, a loan of Rs 3,948 crore was taken and a loan of Rs 1,286 crore was also repaid.
