Shinde Sena Criticizes uddhav Thackeray’s party for Supporting Controversial Candidate

In the escalating political rivalry between the two factions of shiv sena, Arun Sawant, a senior leader from chief minister Eknath Shinde’s camp, has launched a strong critique against uddhav Thackeray’s faction for nominating Pravina Morajkar, a former corporator from Kurla, as a candidate for the upcoming elections.
Morajkar, a prominent figure in her constituency, is at the center of controversy due to allegations from the maratha organization Sambhaji Brigade. They accuse her of misusing her former role to file false cases against maratha community members, claiming she registered over 11 atrocity cases against maratha leaders and citizens. This has prompted the Sambhaji Brigade to formally protest her candidacy under Thackeray’s Shiv Sena.
"Hypocrisy at Its Finest": Arun Sawant
During a press briefing, Sawant accused Thackeray’s party of glaring double standards. “While they claim to champion maratha interests, they endorse someone like Pravina Morajkar, who allegedly acts against that very community,” he stated. This criticism intensifies the ongoing tension between the Shinde and thackeray factions, which have been at odds since the party split over leadership and election strategies.
“How can they even consider nominating someone with such accusations?” Sawant questioned. “This is the epitome of hypocrisy. The people of Maharashtra, especially the maratha community, will remember these contradictions and express their opinions at the polls.”
Morajkar Responds to Allegations
Despite the backlash, Morajkar remains a leading candidate for the Kurla constituency but data-faces significant challenges. The criticism from the Sambhaji Brigade and other maratha groups has ignited a broader debate about her suitability, potentially jeopardizing Thackeray’s support among the community.
Sawant stressed the necessity for transparency and accountability in leadership, asserting that voters will recognize the contradictions in Thackeray’s party and make their judgments known during the elections.
As the elections approach, tensions between the two shiv sena factions are expected to heighten, with candidates like Morajkar caught in the midst of the conflict.
