The idea of "one country one election" may attract people, but it is not easy to give it a concrete form. Ignoring the diversity and population of the country cannot be considered a practical step. bjp strategists should look for new issues to achieve continuous success in electoral politics. The arguments being given by the ruling party regarding the elections of Lok Sabha, Legislative Assemblies and local self-governance institutions are not in accordance withthe structure of the federal structure.

The Modi government had formed a committee under the chairmanship of Ramnath Kovind on 'one country, one election'. On wednesday, september 18, the Modi cabinet passed the report ofthe committee. After this, the suspense from the path of 'one country, one election' in the country has been removedand discussions have started on the pros and cons of conducting simultaneous elections. Home minister amit Shah had also given a statement that this biggest election reform of the country will be implemented during this tenure of the Modi government.

In its last tenure, the Modi government had formed a committee on 'One Nation, One Election' under the chairmanship of former President ram nath kovind and given it the responsibility to report on the possibilities of conducting simultaneous elections in the country. The committee had submitted its report to President draupadi murmu in march this year. The report was discussed in the Modi cabinet meeting on Wednesday and the cabinet approved it in principle. Now it remains to be passed after discussion in the parliament and to become a law after the rest of the process.
