BJP candidate Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Bukhari dies

Bukhari was 75 years old and is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. A bjp leader said that Bukhari was unwell for some time and on wednesday he suffered a heart attack at his residence in Poonch district at around 7 am, due to which he died.

Bukhari, a two-time mla from Surankote, joined the bjp in february this year when the Center granted Scheduled Tribe status to his hill community. He was fielded from Surankote, where polling was held along with 25 other areas in the second phase on september 25. In such a situation, elections can be held in Surankote only in the event of Bukhari's victory.
Bukhari broke his four-decade-long association with the National Conference in february 2022. In fact, he had a dispute with party president farooq abdullah over the status of Scheduled Tribes, after which he left the party.
