Emergency landing of Rajiv Kumar's helicopter in a field!

In Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district, the helicopter of Central election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and the state's Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande had to make an emergency landing. This incident happened when both the senior officers were going to Milam area by helicopter on a three-day tour on wednesday (16 October). The weather suddenly turned bad on the way. Due to this, the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a field in Ralam area. Central election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and the state's Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande had a three-day tour proposed in Milam area in Pithoragarh Munsyari development block.

According to Disaster Management Officer Bhupendra Singh Maher, his helicopter was flying from dehradun to Milam area, where Central election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande were to meet the villagers of Milam Glacier, Nanda Devi area and Indo-Tibetan Border police (ITBP) personnel as well as Pachhu, Matoli and other areas.

This three-day tour was being done with the aim of understanding the election preparations and geographical conditions in the remote and inaccessible areas of Uttarakhand. Under this, the officials had to take stock of the preparations for the election process in the areas around Milam. When the helicopter reached near Milam, the weather suddenly turned bad. It was not possible to fly in bad weather.

Emergency landing in the field

Due to bad weather, the pilot decided to make an emergency landing of the helicopter in a field in Ralam area in view of safety. Thankfully, no accident of any kind occurred during this landing and all the passengers along with the crew remained safe. The officials were accompanied by crew members in the helicopter. The disaster management team and the local administration took necessary steps immediately after the incident and ensured a safe landing of the helicopter. The villagers present in the area also immediately came forward to help and assisted the officials and the helicopter crew.
