Kharge approves Ravindra Vasantrao's name for Nanded Lok Sabha by-election
Reportedly congress has nominated Ravinder Vasantrao Chavan for Nanded lok sabha by-election. He is the son of late congress MP Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan. This seat became vacant after his death. Vasantrao defeated Prataprao Govindrao Chikhlikar of bjp in the lok sabha elections. Let us tell you that congress state president Nana Patole had indicated on wednesday that Vasantrao's son could be given a ticket from Nanded as only his name has been suggested. Chikhlikar won the Nanded seat in 2019, after which bjp repeated his ticket but he had to data-face defeat. He got 469452 votes against Vasantrao. Vasantrao got 528894 votes.
Perhaps Vasantrao was elected to the lok sabha for the first time but he died in August. He was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad. In a press release issued by the congress, it has been said that the party's national president mallikarjun Kharge has approved the proposal to nominate ravindra Vasantrao Chavan as the party's candidate for the lok sabha by-election.
Moreover congress has dominated the Nanded seat from 1952 to 1971. However, MPs from the Scheduled Castes Federation have also been elected from here. From 1962 to 1999, sometimes the Janata Dal and sometimes the congress candidate have won. In 2004, for the first time, BJP's Digambar bapuji Pawar Patil won. But the next year the congress candidate won. From 2004 till now, bjp has won in one election and congress in the other. By-elections will be held for the Nanded lok sabha seat on november 20, the day of assembly elections in the state. The election results will be declared on november 23.
