Chaos again in bangladesh, protesters storm Bangabhavan...

Tensions in bangladesh increased once more after hundreds of demonstrators attempted to storm the president's mansion, Bangabhavan, in the capital city of Dhaka on tuesday night (October 22, 2024). Protesters and police clashed during the siege of Bangabhavan, and the demonstrators demanded that President Muhammad Shahabuddin and the previous constitution be overthrown.

Sheikh Hasina was actually forced to leave bangladesh after the august political crisis, which ended her 16-year leadership, and protests calling for President Mohammad Shahabuddin's overthrow resumed. This is due to President Shahabuddin's recent declaration that he lacks official documentation proving Sheikh Hasina's resignation.

"No proof of Sheikh Hasina's resignation"

In a recent remark, President Shahabuddin stated that he had only heard of Sheikh Hasina's august 5 resignation and did not have any documentation of it. "I made multiple unsuccessful attempts to obtain the resignation," he claimed. Perhaps she was pressed for time.

However, Shahabuddin stated, "You know that prime minister Sheikh Hasina has submitted her resignation to the President and I have received it," in a speech to the public on the evening of august 5. According to Asif Nazrul, the Legal Affairs Advisor, the President "lied" and his comments were "tantamount to violating his oath of office" in this regard. He claimed that he may be removed from office under a constitutional provision.

Five protesters were hurt.

Bangladeshi media said that on tuesday night, demonstrators marched in the direction of Bangabhaban. The police also used force to break up the protest when additional individuals joined. The demonstrators persisted despite the police using batons to scatter the miscreants. During the demonstration, at least five people were hurt, including two journalists.

The 'Daily Report' claims that late tuesday night, two of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's most well-known student leaders, Hasanat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam, who are spearheading the demonstration against Sheikh Hasina, arrived at the protest site and asked the demonstrators to disperse.
