No party has been able to defeat BJP Maharashtra in the last six elections

As per report aam aadmi party (AAP) is also planning to contest assembly elections in Maharashtra. It is also in talks with Mahavikas Aghadi. Sources say that Arvind Kejriwal's party can field a candidate on one seat here. It is being told that AAP can field a candidate from Malabar Hill. There was also talk about its Vile Parle seat, but Vile Parle seat has been captured by uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena-UBT. In such a situation, it is not possible for AAP to field a candidate from Vile Parle. Although AAP has not yet decided its candidate amid these discussions, but AAP sources have informed that one seat will be available which can be Malabar Hill. Malabar Hill is a seat where neither congress, nor Shiv Sena-UBT nor NCP-SP has won the assembly elections in the last several years.

Meanwhile if AAP fields a candidate from here, it will data-face BJP. BJP's Mangalprabhat lodha is going to contest from Malabar Hill seat from Mahayuti. Malabar Hill is BJP's stronghold and it has been winning from here for the last six elections. In a way, this is Mangalprabhat Lodha's safe seat. He has been winning elections from here since 1995.

The first elections were held in Malabar Hill in 1978. Balwant Desai won the elections from 1978 to 1990. He contested the first election on Janata party ticket and the remaining three elections on congress ticket. Malabar Hill comes under mumbai South lok sabha seat which includes Worli, Byculla, Shivadi, Mumbadevi and Colaba. Shiv Sena-UBT dominates this lok sabha seat.
