Gangotri Dham's gates will be closed on 2 November!
The process of closing the doors will start from october 30
The festival of lights has also started in Yamunotri Dham from wednesday itself. Purohit Mahasabha President Purushottam Uniyal said that the banks of the yamuna river and the temple of Maa yamuna have been decorated with lamps. The doors of Yamunotri will also be closed for the winter season in the coming days. Along with this, a bhajan-kirtan evening will be organized on the occasion of Bhai Dooj in Kharshali village, the maternal home of Maa Yamuna. The influx of devotees also increases on this special festival in Gangotri and Yamunotri. This process of closing the doors has special importance because it indicates that these Dhams will remain closed during winter and the worship of Mata will be done at her maternal place as far as possible. It is an emotional occasion for the devotees who reach here on such occasions, in which a unique confluence of faith and traditions can be seen.
After the winter closing of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri, devotees will get the opportunity to visit badrinath and kedarnath Dham in winter. In this last phase of Chardham Yatra, this tradition is an important part of the cultural heritage of the himalayas and also a symbol of the religious beliefs here.
