KTR’s Harris' Praise Finds New Life!!

In a twist that has twitter (or should we say “X”?) lighting up with laughter and mockery, an old tweet from telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) about Kamala harris is making a comeback in the midst of the U.S. presidential election outcome. Back in September, ktr took to twitter with a post that has since aged…well, like an unripe mango. His optimistic assessment? harris could be the first woman president of the united states by year-end.
Today, as the world looks on in various states of shock, excitement, or a lingering sense of disbelief, donald trump has not only taken the lead but secured his place as the 47th president of the United States. This outcome, predictably, was not quite what ktr had envisioned for his favorite, Kamala Harris. The internet, never one to let an out-of-sync prediction slip by unnoticed, has latched onto KTR’s old tweet with the zeal of a meme-hungry collective.
Social media erupted in fits of irony, dragging KTR’s hopeful assessment back to the spotlight, where it has been dissected, meme-ified, and spun into an assortment of jokes. After all, as a politician well-versed in public statements, surely he knew that a "Presidential" assessment on social media has a high risk of a retrospective roast?
In defense of ktr, BRS supporters have leapt to the minister's rescue, reminding the masses that he was merely expressing an opinion—hardly a prophecy! “KTR wasn’t making a binding prediction,” supporters insist, pointing out the universal right to hope for one’s preferred candidate. But in the echo chamber of social media, this nuance was unfortunately steamrolled by a wave of schadenfreude.
As the dust settles on another U.S. election, with trump on his way to the white house once again, the internet has added KTR’s tweet to its cherished collection of “if only” statements. Perhaps next time, ktr might consider a little less twitter foresight—and a little more twitter hindsight.
