Election Commission of India plans to increase percentage of voting

Reportedly it will be mandatory for all employees to be given leave to vote in the maharashtra assembly elections to be held on november 20 in Mumbai. This order has been given by mumbai district election Officer and Corporation Commissioner bhushan Gagrani. Also, action will be taken under the guidelines of the election commission on workplaces that do not follow the rules. As directed by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner and district election Officer bhushan Gagrani, all workers, employees and officers working in businesses, trades, industrial groups, corporations, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings and other establishments working in the Greater mumbai area (Mumbai Suburban district and mumbai City District) will have to exercise their right to vote. It will be mandatory for the concerned employers to approve leave on the day of voting i.e. 20 november 2024.

Meanwhile as per the directions of election commission of india as well as Chief Electoral Officer maharashtra, various innovative activities are being initiated under the guidance of district election Officer and Greater mumbai Municipal Commissioner bhushan Gagrani to increase the percentage of voting in Greater mumbai area. In this background, directions have been issued to enable all the voters of mumbai Suburban district and mumbai City district to exercise their right to vote for the assembly elections.

Every person engaged in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment in the polling area where the election is being held and

A person entitled to vote in the State assembly election shall be given leave on the day of polling i.e. 20th november 2024.

This rule shall apply to all industrial groups, corporations, companies and institutions, industrial undertakings or other establishments etc.

There shall be no deduction in the salary of the person concerned in lieu of this leave.

In case of violation of these rules or provisions by any employer, action shall be taken as per the rules of the election Commission.

According to Section 135(B) of the Representation of people Act, 1951, no action will be taken against any voter. Apart from this, in exceptional circumstances, workers, employees, officers etc. may be given a minimum of four hours' leave if it is not possible to grant a full day's leave to exercise the right to vote. If it is found that a person has been deprived of exercising his right to vote due to non-availability of leave or concession, appropriate action will be taken against the concerned employer.
