Which changed the political picture of Maharashtra?
The counting of votes for the assembly elections in maharashtra has taken place on Saturday. The eyes of political parties are fixed on this. The 2019 election was nda vs UPA. nda had bjp and undivided shiv sena while UPA had congress and undivided NCP. Under the seat sharing formula, bjp contested on 152 seats and shiv sena on 124 seats. 12 seats were kept for other partners of NDA. In UPA, congress and ncp contested on 125-125 seats while 38 seats were left for other partners. Some other parties were also trying their luck in the elections.
Performance of parties in terms of seats
In 2019, the voting percentage had declined by about two percent compared to 2014. The total voting percentage was 61.44. bjp had to suffer a loss of 17 seats but it was still the only party to win 105 seats. Its then ally undivided shiv sena, which was then led by uddhav thackeray, won 56 seats. It lost seven seats. In the UPA, congress won 44 seats with a gain of two seats and ncp won 54 seats with a gain of 13 seats. One seat was won by raj Thackeray's MNS and two seats by Owaisi's AIMIM.
Who was ahead and who was behind in vote share?
bjp got 25.75 percent votes, which was less than 2014 (27.81 percent). Shiv Sena's vote share also declined and it got 16.41 percent votes from 19.35 percent in 2014. NCP's seats may have increased but its vote share declined. It got 16.71 percent votes. congress also lost votes (17.95 percent in 2014) and got 15.87 percent votes. AIMIM gained in terms of votes and it got 1.34 percent votes. MNS's vote share declined and it got 2.25 percent total votes.
