Meerapur by-election: Action taken against 28?

By-election was held on wednesday for Meerapur assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh. During this election, local people created a ruckus over voting in Kakaroli village of Kakaroli police station area. When the police tried to convince them, the people got furious and pelted stones at the police. Kakaroli police station in-charge Rajiv Sharma, head constable Shailendra Bhati and Vikrant were injured in this. After which the police used mild force and chased the crowd away from the spot by lathi charge.

After this incident, the election was conducted peacefully, now the police took action in the matter and registered a case against 28 named persons including several women and about 100 to 120 unknown people under relevant sections 109, 115, 121, 125, 131, 132, 109, 191, 223, 251, 252 and 7cla Act of BNS. A video of this incident is also going viral on social media, in which Inspector Kakaroli is seen pointing a pistol at the women and asking them to go back.

What did the woman say?

In the video, the inspector is also seen arguing with a woman named Tohida. A case has also been registered by the police against this woman Tohida. On this, this woman says that yesterday when we were going to cast our vote, the police did not let us go and said that your vote has been cast, go to your respective homes. During this, a policeman pointed a pistol at us and said that he will shoot. I told him that you have no right to shoot. The woman said that I also told him that if you shoot, I will get your uniform removed. We have 250 to 300 votes, out of which only 8-10 votes were cast in yesterday's election. The woman also said that we have never seen such an election in which people were not allowed to vote. This woman said that I would like to say this to yogi ji that he is our elder and we should get justice.
