Devendra Fadnavis and these other leaders took oath!
Reportedly maharashtra governor C.P. Radhakrishnan has invited senior bjp leader devendra fadnavis to form the new government and he will take oath as the chief minister of the state yesterday (5 December). Two Deputy Chief Ministers including nationalist congress party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar will also be sworn in at the ceremony to be held in the presence of prime minister Narendra Modi at azad Maidan in South mumbai today. There is no clarity yet on whether outgoing chief minister Eknath Shinde will be a part of the new cabinet.
Meanwhile fadnavis said that he has requested Shinde to join the government, while Shinde said that the media will be informed about this later. Soon after fadnavis was unanimously elected as the leader of the bjp Legislature party on Wednesday, a delegation of the ruling Mahayuti alliance met the governor at raj Bhavan. At the legislature party meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan, former gujarat chief minister and bjp central observer vijay rupani announced that fadnavis (54) has been unanimously elected leader of the bjp legislature party. At the meeting, bjp central observer and Union minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the double engine government in the state and the Centre will promote development.
Moreover fadnavis thanked the bjp MLAs for reposing faith in him and said that the ruling Mahayuti alliance's massive victory in the assembly elections held on november 20 was due to prime minister Modi's 'Ek Hain To Safe Hain' mantra. At the meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan, senior state bjp leader chandrakant patil proposed Fadnavis' name as the leader of the legislative party. Perhaps Fadnavis' name was finalised for the top post at the state bjp core committee meeting held here before the legislature party meeting. fadnavis told the media at raj Bhavan, "I met Eknath Shinde yesterday and told him that both shiv sena and Mahayuti want him to be with us in this government. I am confident that he will be with us." Shinde had gone to thane citing health problems, leading to speculation of internal strife in the Mahayuti alliance. However, he returned to mumbai on Tuesday.
