Congress furious over alleged remarks of High Court judge...
Indian National congress National Secretary Shahnawaz Alam has described the participation of two judges of allahabad High court in the program organized by vishwa Hindu Parishad as a new record of the judiciary falling to a low level. He has also expressed surprise at the Chief Justice of the supreme court not taking any action against these two judges till now.
In a statement issued from the State congress Headquarters in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Shahnawaz Alam said that how can Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav and Justice Dinesh Pathak go to any non-governmental and non-departmental platform. This is against the code of conduct of judges. It is the responsibility of the Chief Justice to take cognizance of this matter himself and remove these two judges from their posts, which he seems to be failing to fulfill.
Shahnawaz Alam said that Justice Shekhar Yadav's statement in his address that india will run according to the wishes of its majority shows that Justice Yadav does not even believe in the Constitution, which considers india not a majoritarian state but a secular and democratic state. According to which the country has to run according to the Constitution. He said that if Justice Shekhar Yadav does not believe in the Constitution, then how can he be a member of the judiciary formed to protect the Constitution?
He said that this is the same judge who, while giving a statement regarding making the cow the national animal, had said that the cow is the only animal that takes in and releases oxygen. Saying such an unscientific thing is against Article 51-A (H) of the Constitution, which gives the responsibility of spreading scientific thinking to every citizen. Shahnawaz Alam said that the supreme court should review the previous decisions of these two judges.
