Why Indians are afraid of the impact of inflation on their food plate?

This has come to light from the Ipsos Cost of Living Report. indians fear that next year the prices of food items, household shopping, fuel and going out will all become expensive. More than 62 percent of the people involved in the Ipsos Cost of Living Monitor survey for november 2024 have expressed apprehension of increase in food prices.

Meanwhile Ipsos india CEO amit Adarkar said that free ration for the poor, subsidy in government-run dispensaries, keeping oil prices under control, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana etc. have reduced the impact of high cost of living on economically weaker people and the general public. 19 percent of the people surveyed said that they are living comfortably. 34 percent said that their life is fine, 20 percent are somehow managing to survive and only 22 percent said that there is difficulty in living.

Moreover according to the report, 45 percent people do not believe that inflation will ever reduce. At the same time, 20 percent people hope that inflation will stabilize after next year, 12 percent people expect the situation to become normal within a year. Nine percent people believe in six months, six percent people in three months, and seven percent people believe that it has already stabilized. Most urban indians i.e. 54 percent expect inflation to increase further next year.
