Delhi's weather has changed. Cold wave can increase people's troubles. According to the indian Meteorological Department (IMD), cold winds on wednesday (December 11) caused cold wave conditions in the national capital and Delhi's minimum temperature was recorded at 4.9 degrees Celsius. It said that the minimum temperature in early december has been recorded below 5 degrees Celsius for the first time in 14 years. According to the data, the lowest minimum temperature during this period was recorded at 4.1 degrees Celsius on december 6, 1987.

Cold wave warning in delhi for the next two days

The IMD has issued a yellow alert warning of a similar cold wave for the next two days. The night temperature on wednesday was recorded at 4.9 degrees Celsius, which is 4.7 degrees below normal. It was 8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. According to the data, there were no cold wave days in december 2023 and 2022.

What is the reason for the drop in temperature?

However, cold wave conditions were observed in november 2020 and the minimum temperature dropped to 7.5 degrees Celsius. Cold wave occurs when the minimum temperature falls below the normal day temperature by 4.5 to 6.4 degrees Celsius. The IMD has attributed the current sharp temperature drop to surdata-face winds blowing at a speed of 8-10 kmph from the northwest.

Due to the absence of significant western disturbances and strong surdata-face winds (10-20 kmph) during the day, the minimum temperature is expected to remain between 4-6 degrees Celsius for the next three to four days. Cold wave conditions are likely to persist in delhi between december 11 and 13. On wednesday, the maximum temperature of the city was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius, 1.8 degrees below normal and the humidity ranged between 64 to 39 percent.
