Explosives found in North Kashmir for the second time!
Security forces on wednesday (December 11) detected and destroyed a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) through a controlled explosion in Langate area of Kupwara district in North Kashmir, foiling a major terror plot to target security forces. police sources have confirmed that the suspected explosive device was detected by the Road Opening party (ROP) of police and army in Baramulla-Handwara area early this morning. He said the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to investigate the device.
No damage
He said the suspected IED was destroyed through a controlled explosion as per standard operating procedures (SOP), causing no damage. A police officer said traffic movement on the road was temporarily halted. He said, "After destroying the suspected device, traffic movement was restored." On tuesday morning, police and security forces defused another IED in Pattan area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.

A massive search operation was launched in the area near the international data-border on sunday after villagers reported suspicious activity in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district. Officials said on sunday (December 8) that the police, army and Central Reserve police Force (CRPF) launched a joint search operation in several semi-urban villages in Hiranagar sector late saturday night. Kathua Senior Superintendent of police Shobhit Saxena said, "We received information about the movement of three to four suspicious persons and we acted immediately. Aerial surveillance is also going on in the area. He said that the operation is going on but no evidence has been found yet regarding the suspects.
